Celebrities' Nude Picture Hack Disgusting

January 2024 ยท 3 minute read

Somehow, by some form of hacking, perversion and all-out creepiness, nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez and Kaley Cuoco - to name but a few - have been leaked onto the Internet due to an "iCloud leak".

Now, adding insult to injury, the hacker behind the Jennifer Lawrence nude photos leaked online now claims to have footage of the star allegedly performing a sex act. And he or she said online that they are accepting Paypal donations for the short video.

Can this just STOP. Please.

Let's not even go into what this says about our privacy, although the thought of it is terrifying. Let's not go into whether we ourselves take nude photos, or whether this is the price of fame. Let's go into why this slut-shaming is completely disgusting.

Jennifer Lawrence was trending all through the night on Twitter, all thanks to her personal pictures being paraded around the internet for Tom, Dick and Harry to look at. Thankfully Twitter did the right thing and suspended all the accounts that were sharing the pictures, but still, poor Jennifer Lawrence.

Granted, she's used to making headlines, and can usually see the funny side to everything - but there is no funny side to this. We don't know who those photos were taken for, and nor should we. It's not about the details, it's about an invasion of her privacy.

The same goes for Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Kaley Cuoco, Rihanna, Lea Michele and Selena Gomez and nearly a hundred others who dared to be naked before a camera. It is very telling that all these victims - because they are, unequivocally, victims - are women, bar a couple of men who just happened to be in the same photo. It is not a coincidence. It is not just famous women who are shamed in this way, but also regular women, and increasingly young girls, who are victims of revenge porn, and who must face mortification and disgrace because they once trusted someone with an iPhone camera.

So before you go typing in 'Jennifer Lawrence nude pictures' into Google because you're "intrigued" can you just take a minute and think, how would you feel if someone did that to you?
